Mrs Rebecca Core

Rebecca has been fortunate enough to be a Governor at Hagley Primary School since 2005, initially as a Parent Governor and more recently as a Community, then Co-opted Governor. Rebecca was a part time primary school teacher until July 2017. She is extremely proud to be Chair of Governors of Hagley Primary School and finds it most rewarding working alongside the hardworking and dedicated leaders and staff, striving to enable Hagley Primary School be the best that it can be. The role of a Governor can be extremely varied but Rebecca particularly enjoys her involvement in the recruitment of staff and spending time in school undertaking learning walks and talking to pupils.
As a Director of HPS Care Ltd Rebecca is able to work closely with both the WACC and Kindergarten teams.

Mrs Vanessa Payne

Vanessa Payne qualified as a primary school teacher in 1989 at the London Institute of Education and has worked in 8 schools over the last 27 years. Her first Headship was at Dodford First School in Bromsgrove in 2008 before moving on to a Headship in Birmingham. Vanessa was thrilled to be appointed as Head of Hagley Primary School in 2014. She is passionate about ensuring that all children have access to an outstanding primary curriculum, with Mathematics, PE, Music and Languages being her areas of expertise.

Mrs Tess Davis

Tess was originally elected as a Parent Governor in 2015 and has recently been Co-opted on to the Governing Body. Tess has three children, all of whom have attended Hagley Primary School. Having previously worked as a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist, working with upper limb injuries, including those in the military and with children, she now works from home running her husbands’ private practice.
Tess has enjoyed developing her skills as a Governor and has a particular interest in the curriculum, teaching and learning. She believes that every child deserves an inspirational education to maximise their academic achievements, in combination with their personal, emotional and social development. Tess is the Phase Link Governor for Early Years and is looking forward to fostering this relationship over the next few years.

Mrs Karen May

Karen May joined the Governing Body as the LA Governor in July 2018. Karen is Cabinet Member with responsibility for Transformation and Commissioning at Worcestershire County Council. She represents the Conservative party and is Leader of Bromsgrove District Council, County Councillor for the Clent Hills and District Councillor for Belbroughton & Romsley.

Kash is a father of two boys.
As with all parents, he is keen to know about, and have a say in, the education of children, as well as to learn more about how the school is run. He wants to use his skills to help support the staff and children. Being involved in planning, developing and overseeing the short, medium and long-term strategy for schools is something he is really look forward to doing.
Kash is a consultant in Emergency Medicine at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. He hopes to be able to use his knowledge and expertise, while also learning new skills, to help ensure a high quality education of our children.

Mrs Claire Smith

Claire has worked in education for 16 years and is currently the Principal of a large secondary school. She joined the governing body of Hagley Primary School as a parent governor in March 2021 and has two children at the school.

Mr Jon Bryant

Jon was delighted to be elected as a Parent Governor in 2022. He is a Business Analyst for a large rural insurance company and consults with a wide range of stakeholders to implement IT solutions and improve business performance. Jon lives in Hagley with his family and has two young children, one of whom attends Hagley Primary School. He is very much looking forward to using his professional expertise in his Governor role at the school and is passionate about making a difference in the local community.

Mrs Sameen Irfan

Sameen has a longstanding association with Hagley Primary School through her four children. She has always been involved in schools through teaching community languages in local schools for 8 years. Sameen currently works at Kidderminster College and Haybridge High School for the exams department. She has a special interest in SEN and is really looking forward to work as a SEN Governor.

Mrs Sybil Watson

Sybil’s background is in education and was a Head Teacher until her retirement. Sybil is particularly interested in the curriculum, how the children are developing and extracurricular activities in the school. Sybil is also the Special Educational Needs Governor and always enjoys visits to the school meeting the staff, pupils and parents.

Stuart has over thirteen years of experience in education and is a proud parent of a child attending the school. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role of Parent Governor. Throughout his career, he has had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students, enabling him to understand the unique needs and challenges that children face in their educational journey. As a Headteacher he has gained invaluable insights into the intricacies of school management, curriculum development, and fostering an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. He is passionate about promoting strong partnerships between parents, staff, and the wider community, as he firmly believes that together, we can create a supportive network that enhances the educational experience of every child in our care.

Mrs Sarah Riding

Sarah was initially elected as a Parent Governor in 2015 but has more recently been Co-opted on to the Governing Body. Sarah is a commercial lawyer and a Partner at a leading law firm advising a range of businesses on their strategic and key contractual arrangements. Sarah very much enjoys using her skills and experience in her Governor role to support Hagley Primary School.

Mr Matt McDonald

Matt was appointed as a Parent Governor in 2022. He currently has two children attending Hagley Primary School. Matt is a Partner at the law firm Shakespeare Martineau, the largest commercial law firm in the Midlands, and specialises in employment and HR law. He works with clients across the UK in various sectors, including a number in the education sector. Matt is delighted to have the opportunity to use his skills and experience to support Hagley Primary School.

Mr Rob Tindell

Rob has been Deputy Head Teacher at Hagley Primary School since September 2014. Prior to this he was a Phase Leader in Years 3 and 4. He has led across a number of curriculum areas since becoming a teacher, including English, Science and PE, and has also been KS2 Lead at his previous school. Rob is passionate about ensuring all the children have access to an outstanding primary curriculum. He has 3 daughters, two of which are of primary school age.

Mrs Rachel Cummings

Rachel joined the Governing Board in October 2023 as a Staff Governor. In her current role as Assistant Headteacher, she has responsibility for both the Curriculum and Teaching/Learning. As a Writing Moderator for the Local Authority, she has an interest in how we can best support teachers to help children make progress with their Writing. Additionally, as part of her ongoing Master’s studies, she enjoys reading widely around how embedding a coaching culture can be a valuable way to help staff celebrate successes and share best practice in order to further their own professional development. In her role as staff governor, she hopes to support her colleagues by bringing the staff viewpoint and perspective into discussion and debate.

Mrs Tina Rennie

Tina has worked in a number of roles in both the public and private sector. This experience has included Business Administration, Office Manager and more recently School Business Manager. Her education setting experience has been in both a maintained school as well as a large multi academy trust. She continues to be a member of Worcestershire Association of School Business Management and holds a qualification in Ba(Hons) Business and Marketing. Tina was delighted to be appointed as the School Business Manager and Associate Governor at Hagley Primary School in January 2022.
