In school, we use the White Rose Maths Hub schemes of work to plan our maths lessons and often use their resources for activities in class. White Rose have now set up a daily lesson (around 20-30 minutes) for each year group catered to their schemes of learning. The team are uploading 5 lessons each week for the next few weeks to support parents with school closures. The link below will provide you with access to the home page where you can access the appropriate year group. Each daily lesson contains an introductory video, an activitiy pack and also the answers. As we follow this scheme of learning, the children will be very familar with the explanations, methods and representations that are used. The White Rose Maths Hub forms part of our learning newsletter.
White Rose Maths resources
Below, you will find all of the worksheets and answers for the videos on White Rose Maths. As you may be aware from the email we sent out regarding home learning, the resources have now moved to premium access which we have purchased as a school. As parents and carers, you do not need to take out a personal subsrcription which is available and advertised on the White Rose website. Instead, from now on, the resources will need to be downloaded from this page to go alongside the lesson and video available on the White Rose Maths home learning website which can be accessed by the link above.
Week commencing 18.05.20
Please be aware that this week White Rose Maths may recap areas that they have previously covered during the school closure period. This is due to the fact that they have now merged content and timetables with BBC bitesize daily. White Rose Maths have produced an alternative lesson for Years 1 (lesson 4) and 4 (lesson 1) to account for this repetition. In Year 3, they have produced a whole weeks alternative. If you have not covered this before during the closure then continue with the lessons outlined below and on their website. If you have completed the lesson before, then use the alternative which we have also made available.

Year 3 update: 19/05/20: We understand that fractions can be a tricky concept to understand and that the expectation on Year 3, in terms of knowlege of fractions, contains a number of abstract/new ideas; however, as with most aspects of the curriculum, this builds on prior knowledge from KS1 where fractions are first introduced. To help guide parents further, and support with the White Rose Maths materials, we have provided further guidance for fractions in Year 3. Click here to see the Fractions home learning guidance.

In addition to our home learning newsletters, we have created an exciting opportunity to support the development of inquiry skills for mathematical investigations. Each set of tasks will focus on an inquiry based skill; for example, working systematically, trial and improvement, etc. Each challenge has been created for the phases within school and features helpful questions or parent tips to help facilitate greater independence and resilience with a problem solving task. These challenges are optional and an addition to the Maths work on their learning newsletter. We will set these challenges every two weeks via this page.
If your child wishes to enter the challenge, please email their inquiry to the school office, firstname.lastname@example.org, along with their name and year group. This can be a word document, PowerPoint or photograph. These will be collected and given a score by Mrs West (our Maths leader in school).
