Kindergarten

Believe, Achieve, Together We Succeed

HPS Care Limited Kindergarten at Hagley Primary School

Welcome and thank you for your interest in our Kindergarten.

For the academic year 2023/24 we will be offering a limited number of additional hours from 3pm – 5.30pm. Please speak to the Kindergarten Manager for more details!

Children join us each September for their pre-school year which is the year (September to August) in which their fourth birthday falls.

Our experienced and qualified staff team are passionate about Early Years and committed to offering every child the opportunity to have fun, achieve and learn through play in a safe, caring and stimulating environment in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage.

We recognise that every child is unique and aim to meet their individual needs in partnership with parents and carers.

We hope you find what you need on this page but please get in touch with us if you have any questions or we can help in any way.

Please note; Whilst Kindergarten are able to offer both funded and non funded places, Kindergarten do ask for a £2 per session voluntary consumables fee.

Since the introduction of the 30 hours funding, all childcare providers have been able to put a voluntary charge to parents for consumables, additional services etc. This is the advice we are given by the department of education:

“Government funding is intended to deliver 15 or 30 hours a week of free, high quality, flexible childcare. It is not intended to cover the costs of food, other consumables, additional hours or additional activities. Parents can therefore expect to pay for any meals and can also expect to pay for other consumables or additional activities offered by the provider.”

Inflation, staff wages (in line with government increases) have all increased. For every funded child we take we lose money or make very little profit and the majority of our Kindergarten spaces are funded. We are proud of the setting, and of the unique experience that we can offer the children, including offering curriculum enrichment. We do not want to reduce what we offer to the children and we do not want to put restrictions on the use of funded hours but we also want to survive.

Our consumables charge will cover the following:

  • Outside visitors, including sports coaches for sports week; in previous years this has included, tennis, tae-kwondo, golf and football. (Weekly sessions of French and rugby are an additional charge.)
  • Animal experiences.
  • Celebration days including Christmas party, Easter Party, end of year party and multiple productions.
  • Visit from Santa, including a special gift.
  • Consumables including children’s stationery and art/craft resources.
  • Cooking.
  • Growing fruit and vegetables.
  • Equipment (such as PPE, nappies and wipes)

 This list is not exhaustive.
