On behalf of our children, staff, parents and Governors, may I offer you a warm welcome to Hagley Primary School. Our school prides itself on our mission statement of “Believe, Achieve, Together we Succeed” and our values are embedded throughout the curriculum. We have a strong belief that the success of our school is based upon the close partnership we have with parents, with open and effective communication.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message.
Mrs Vanessa Payne
Further information is available for you throughout our website, and if you would like to visit us in person, we would be delighted to show you around and welcome you into our wonderful school community.
I am very proud to be the Head Teacher of Hagley Primary School, a large three form entry school in North Worcestershire. Our children benefit from a wonderfully vibrant curriculum that enables individuals to grow and blossom during their primary years. We excel in Performing Arts, Sport, and have a specialist teacher for French. The children at Hagley Primary have a thirst for learning, and they enjoy a wide range of extra–curricular activities including languages, sports, art and drama.
Our school grounds are extensive, and include a trim trail, climbing wall and Forest School. Our before and after school clubs, (Ofsted outstanding), provide fun and enjoyable wrap around care from 7.30am to 6pm each day.
Performing Arts, which includes music, dance and drama is valued and celebrated at Hagley Primary School by staff, children and parents. We provide a wealth of extra-curricular music opportunities and we are proud to have almost 100 children learning a musical instrument, 90 children learning the recorder and over 80 in the school choir. We also offer a drama club and a dance club.
The school has a history of working with external partners for vocal workshops and providing dance, drama and music performance opportunities. We provide a rich, exciting and inclusive Performing Arts curriculum where all pupils participate. We aim to inspire children to work together to develop imagination, self- confidence, and to express thoughts and feelings.
Forest School is an inspirational process where children participate in engaging, motivating and achievable activities in a woodland environment. Forest School has demonstrated success with children of all ages at Hagley Primary School who visit the woodland on a regular basis.
Through play, children have the opportunity to learn about the natural environment, how to handle risks and most importantly to use their own initiative to solve problems and co-operate with others. Forest School programmes run throughout the year, including an after school club.
We go to the forest in all weathers (except high winds and electrical storms) and use tools, play, and learn boundaries of behaviour (both physical and social) to establish and grow in confidence, self-esteem and become self-motivated.
At Hagley Primary School we want all our children to have fun whilst leading healthy and active lifestyles. We use PE and Sport to promote these values through 2 hours of timetabled PE, cross curricular sessions, festivals and competitions.
PE sessions focus on developing fundamental movement skills which are important in ensuring lifelong involvement in physical activity. Proficiency also forms the basis for the development of more advanced sport-specific skills. We are keen that ALL children have the opportunity to represent the school in festivals and competitive events.
We offer over 15 different sports with some set aside specifically for targeted groups and talented children. We are very proud to have been awarded the Hereford and Worcestershire Sports School of the Year 2017/18.
We value the importance of student voice at Hagley Primary and one way in which we do this is through our School Council. School Councillors are elected by their peers to represent the views of their class. They meet regularly as a group to discuss ideas and share opinions. Please watch our video to find out more…
